Morocco Market Watch | May 29th 2015: Moroccan equity market maintains bullish tempo
Casablanca, Morocco (Capital Markets in Africa):- Morocco’s benchmark stock index (MASI Index) gained 1.19 percent to close at 9,711.36 points (0.95 percent year-to-date performance) with total market capitalization at MAD 493.119 billion (increased by MAD 9 billion compared to previous trading sessions) and market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 967.881 million. Likewise, Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) closed at 7,947.39 points (advanced by 1.19 percent compared to previous trading day). In addition, FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index rose by 1.08 percent to close at 8,515.98 points (-3.45 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index surged by 1.24 percent to end at 8,132.79 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to 0.89 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Construction & Building, Distributors and Transport sector indices went up by 3.62 percent, 2.27 percent, and 1.54 percent respectively. On the losers’ side were Beverages (lost 1.98 percent to close the year-to-date performance at 3.16 percent), Forestry & Papers (declined by 1.96 percent and -46.10 percent year-to-date return) and Insurance sector index (lost 0.26 percent and 3.33 percent year-to-date return).
The market sentiment was positive today, as the market breadth (advancer/decliners ratio) with 21 gainers and 14 losers. On the gainers’ chart, M2M Group Morocco gained 5.98 percent to end at MAD 209.85 and LABEL VIE Morocco advanced by 5.97 percent to settle at MAD 1,065.00. Also, FENE BROSSETTE Morocco surged by 5.95 percent with closing price of MAD 134.45 as well as ENNAKL advanced by 4.92 percent to close at MAD 40.99. While topping the losers’ chart were ZELLIDJA S.A. Morocco, SAHAM ASSURANCE, SONASID, STOKVIS AFRIQUE Morocco and BRASSERIES MARCO plummeted by 5.98 percent (to settle at MAD 200.35), 5.95 percent (to end at MAD 1,004.00), 3.85 percent (with closing price of MAD 750.00), 3.37 percent (to settle at MAD 26.10) and 2.32 percent (to settle at MAD 2,227.00) respectively.
